The large-scale ceiling painting in the “crossing” of the nave and transept is a real eye-catcher.
The artist Josef Balmer created this work of art as part of the renovation project led by architect Viktor Segesser in 1889.
Anyone expecting a biblical scene will be mistaken: the vault painting depicts an event of local historical significance with a religious background.
