- In 1822, Josef Willimann built the first organ at St. Gallus.
- In 1895, it fell silent. It was no longer playable, so it was removed and replaced with a pedal harmonium.
- In 1901, organ builder Goll built a new organ (Opus 215, with pneumatic cone chests).

- In 1987, the organ builder Cäcilia AG (Kriens) built a new organ in the 6.2-meter-high Baroque case. Today it has 31 stops and 1,959 pipes, 60 of which are made of wood. The longest pipe in the facade measures about 3 m, and the smallest 4 mm. The total weight of the pipes is 1.15 t (tin-lead). The organ incorporates 14.5 m³ of solid wood, primarily oak and spruce. Its sound is celebrated far beyond Kriens.
- In 2024, the Erni company dusted off and overhauled the organ.
