Good Friday Raffle

Good Friday brings to mind times of failure and hopelessness. In Kriens, the “Raffel” (also called a “Rätsche”) is an audible symbol: it expresses mourning for the suffering and death of Jesus.
The traditional wooden structure is mounted on the steeple of St. Gallus Church and dates back to around 1900. It was restored in 1997. And since 1998, it has once again been heard regularly when the bells fall silent.
Inside the church, the Stations of the Cross, with their 14 stations—from Jesus’s condemnation to his burial—also serve as a reminder of Jesus’s suffering. In St. Gallus Church, there are seven stations on each of the side walls. The Stations of the Cross are attributed to Johann Melchior Wyrsch (1732–1798).
